The knowledge holder retires, what now?
When employees retire or leave a company for other reasons, many companies lose valuable know-how. It’s not just a person leaving, but often decades of knowledge are lost. The consequences: projects are delayed, and decisions take longer.
Herbert Andert, Corporate Department Director Automation & Industrial Digitalization from VTU in Austria, describes the problem firsthand in the podcast “State of Process Automation” and talks about the possibility of transforming the valuable knowledge of employees into a “Digital Monument.” In this process, the knowledge is systematically captured, digitalized and transferred into a Digital Twin. This way, the valuable know-how remains preserved even after experts leave and can be accessed at any time.
