Even in its early days, VTU almost exclusively completed projects for biofuel, wastewater treatment and recycling industrial waste. This trend continues parallel to the rapid development in life sciences – up to the current expertise in recycling and hydrogen.
What is more effective though is VTU’s role in transforming established chemical and petrochemical companies towards responsible sustainability: closing material cycles, energy efficiency, exhaust air/waste water, recycling by-products, CO2 reduction and much more are problems that are successfully solved in many companies. Through competent analysis, experience in proven methods, process know-how and the development of new technologies, but also the clever application of digitalisation, projects are implemented that significantly improve the sustainability balance of industrial companies. More than 70% of the projects completed by VTU in chemistry and petrochemistry pave the way to sustainable business.
But VTU goes one step further: with Green Engineering, the impact on the environment, safety and sustainability is continuously checked in every project, regardless of the industry and size. The project is periodically examined transparently for optimisation potential through sustainability reviews, energy, CO2 and material flow balances, and this potential is then soundly analysed for possible implementation. This not only results in more sustainable and safer plants but their environmental footprint is transparent too.
VTU is of course also committed to sustainability in its own actions. Internal and operational processes are also continuously audited and improved. VTU is audited by Ecovadis and produces an annual CSR report in accordance with the GRI standard.
