Hydrogen in chemical processes

25. September 2024

We are happy to present the latest article in the Austrian magazine “Chemiereport” based on an interview with VTU hydrogen experts Bernd Humpl and Andrea Stachel.

The article discusses the importance of hydrogen in the transition to a decarbonized economy, highlighting its dual role as an energy carrier and a raw material in chemical processes. VTU is actively involved in hydrogen projects, focusing on both production methods like electrolysis and its industrial applications.

As Andrea Stachel and Bernd Humpl explain in the article, they tackle various challenges related to hydrogen production, such as the availability of renewable energy sources, the logistics of transporting hydrogen, and the economic feasibility of these projects. They emphasize the need for detailed simulations and careful project management to adapt to the fluctuating nature of renewable energy sources.

The experts also note the potential cost reductions through scaling up hydrogen production and the need for clearer regulatory frameworks.
